Oil painting on canvas interpreting A Peacock and Doves in a Garden by Eugene Bidau. The canvas has been stretched and mounted in a solid mahogany frame with hand carevd corner decoration and oil gilded using dutch metal leaf.
Eugene Bidau (1839 - 1899) was a French artist who made his solo debut at the Salon in 1863. His 1888 painting A Peacock and Doves in a Garden is a reflection of the changing character of French social life, demonstrating the popular tastes of the art collecting elites, and representative of the vast land reforms and population shifts between rural and urban life.
Hand painted by an established individual artist, Mo Dong. Mo was born in 1983 and developed an interest in painting from a very early age with his first exhibition in Beijing in 2008.
